Spa Etiquette Tips

So you have a reservation at our Aveda spa? While this is normally a very relaxing experience, not knowing what to expect can make even the most frequent spa-goer a little nervous. With this in mind, The Palms Spa has compiled a list of spa protocol to make it is easier for you to stay on top of the details while you’re being pampered.

The Early Bird Gets the Worm
Would you show up late to surgery? Treat your spa appointment as if it were a major surgery. Your licensed therapist has other appointments after you and time is of the essence. A great rule of thumb is to always arrive 30 minutes prior to your treatment time. The Palms Spa has an outdoor relaxation area and steam room that guests can relax and unwind in prior to their service. Private lockers, plush robes and spa sandals are all provided for you. Consider bringing a bathing suit if you would like to enjoy the resort pool area.  Lastly, it is a good idea to bring something comfortable to wear after your day at the spa. The Palms Spa provides a variety of complimentary, natural and organic personal care items during your visit.

Spa Attire
It’s usually a good idea to decide ahead of time whether you prefer a male or female massage therapist. Let’s face it: massages do require a certain amount of nudity, so you want to feel as comfortable as possible at all times. If you’re uncomfortable, you don’t have to undress completely; it’s perfectly okay to wear underwear while having a massage and our licensed therapists are always very professional and discreet and leave the room allowing you ample time to get comfortable under the sheets.  Remember, this should be a stress free experience.

Sharing is Caring
Always shower before use of our relaxation area, steam room any of the other shared facilities. While enjoying the steam, it is proper etiquette to sit on your towel or robe provided by the spa.

No Cell Phone Zone
Of course we can’t tell you to leave your cell phone at home, but try to be courteous. Turn off all electronic devices before entering the spa.

Cancel with Courtesy
Probably one of the most overlooked aspects of making a spa appointment. If you must cancel, give the spa as much advance notice as possible. The Palms Spa has a very flexible cancellation policy and only requires at least 6 hours’ notice for individual reservations; group reservations require one week notice. and package reservations require 24 hours.

Service Charges & Gratuity
A 20% service charge will be added to all treatments at The Palms Spa. Additional gratuities are at your discretion. We recommend leaving tips at the reception desk when you pay your bill rather than giving it directly to the therapist. If you receive multiple services from different people you may leave separate tips for each of them.
