‘Living the Dream’ marks the 6th Anniversary of Dream in Green’s flagship program, the award winning Green Schools Challenge, which is currently serving 165 K-12 schools in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. The Green Schools Challenge fosters green behaviors in K-12 students by engaging them in saving energy and water, recycling and waste reduction, as well as other activities related to green buildings, green transportation and green careers at school and at home. Last year, the program was implemented in one-hundred and five schools and saved the School District $1.4 million in school energy costs while also reducing carbon emissions by 1.5 million pounds. This year, the Green Schools Challenge reaches over 75,000 students whose efforts, we expect, will beat all records.
All proceeds from ‘Living the Dream’ will be used to underwrite further expansion of theGreen Schools Challenge program in Miami-Dade and Broward. The community event will feature 3-hours of natural delights, fresh organic cocktails, live music, a silent auction, and more.
